FAQ

Common Questions.

Common questions about asphalt paving, sealcoating, crack filling, timelines, and warranties.

General

How long has Caton Asphalt been in business?

We've been paving in Oklahoma since 2014, based in Tulsa. We've worked on residential driveways, commercial parking lots, industrial facilities, HOA community roads, and municipal projects across the state.

Do you serve areas outside of Tulsa?

Yes. We're based in Tulsa but service all of Oklahoma. For residential work, we primarily serve the greater Tulsa metro. For commercial and industrial projects, we travel statewide.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We're licensed, bonded, and fully insured. We can provide certificates of insurance for any commercial project requirement.

Do you offer a warranty?

Every job we complete comes with a warranty. The specific terms depend on the project type. Ask us for details when you request your estimate.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. Our five-person crew handles your project from start to finish: ground prep, installation, striping, everything.

Driveway Paving

How long does a new asphalt driveway last?

A properly installed asphalt driveway, maintained with sealcoating every 2–3 years, typically lasts 20–25 years in Oklahoma's climate. We install it correctly and tell you exactly what to do to make it last.

Do I need to remove my old driveway before paving?

Not always. If your existing base is solid, an asphalt overlay on the current surface can save money and time. We'll assess it on-site and give you an honest recommendation.

How soon can I use my driveway after paving?

New asphalt handles foot traffic in about 24 hours and vehicle traffic in 24–48 hours, depending on temperature. We'll tell you exactly when it's ready before we leave.

What is the best time of year to pave in Oklahoma?

Spring through fall. Asphalt needs sustained temperatures above 50°F to install and cure properly. Oklahoma's climate means we work most of the year.

Sealcoating

When should I sealcoat my driveway?

New asphalt should cure for at least 6 months before the first sealcoat. After that, reseal every 2–3 years for optimal protection. Oklahoma's summer sun accelerates UV damage, so staying on schedule matters here.

How long does sealcoating take to dry?

Plan for 24–48 hours of cure time before driving on sealed surfaces. We'll give you a specific window based on conditions when we finish.

Does sealcoating fix cracks?

Sealcoating is a surface coating, not a crack filler. We address cracks with hot rubber crack filler first, then sealcoat over the top. Doing them in sequence is the right approach.

What's the difference between sealcoating and crack filling?

Sealcoating is a protective surface layer that blocks UV damage, fuel spills, and water. Crack filling seals specific cracks to stop water from getting underneath. They address different problems and work well together.

Repairs & Parking Lots

What kind of crack filler do you use?

Hot-applied rubberized crack filler. It's heated and applied under pressure so it bonds deep into the crack and flexes with Oklahoma's temperature swings. It significantly outperforms cold-pour products.

How do I know if my parking lot needs resurfacing or full replacement?

It comes down to base condition. If the base is still solid, an overlay can extend the lot's life significantly. If the base has failed (large sinkholes, extensive alligatoring, sections that move under weight), you're looking at replacement. We'll give you the honest answer after seeing it.

Can you work around my business hours?

Yes. For commercial projects, we plan work to minimize disruption to your operations: phased work, evening hours, or weekend scheduling. Tell us your constraints and we'll work with them.

Do you do ADA-compliant striping?

Yes. We design ADA-compliant parking layouts with proper accessible space counts, stall dimensions, access aisles, and can provide documentation if needed.

Pricing & Process

How do I get a quote?

Call us at (918) 417-0644 or fill out the contact form. We'll schedule a time to come look at the job. Estimates are always free. We don't quote paving work over the phone or from photos because site and base conditions matter too much.

How long does it take to get scheduled?

It depends on the time of year. Spring and summer book up fast. Call early if you need work done by a specific date.
